GENERAL WORKERS: STREET CLEANING & LANDFILL SITES x 04 Posts across all
units (PL 14) R117 282.00 PA
Requirements: Grade 10. Ability to read and write. Good interpersonal skills, ability to work
as an individual and part of a team. Ability to read and write. Physically fit to perform manual
duties as required.

Ability to cooperate with the general public and work as part of an effective
team. Ability to speak two of the main languages spoken in the area. Ability to work long hours
in adverse weather conditions and in an unpleasant odour environment.

Responsibilities:
Sweep refuse from municipal streets, gutters and sidewalks into pile. Pick up litter and similar
rubbish from municipal streets, lawns, flower beds, median strips and sidewalks. Remove
heavy concrete and steel lids and clean out of side entry pits. Empty street public dustbin.

Assist with the cleaning up of spills, e.g. oils, fuel, concrete. Undertake general cleaning,
labouring and maintenance. Work a reasonable amount of overtime when required. Clean the
tools after usage.

GENERAL WORKERS: REFUSE REMOVAL (30 X Posts across all units) (PL 14)
R117 282.00 PA

Requirements: Grade 10. Ability to read and write. Good interpersonal skills, ability to work
as an individual and part of a team. Ability to read and write. Physically fit to perform manual
duties as required. Ability to cooperate with the general public and work as part of an effective
team. Ability to speak two of the main languages spoken in the area. Ability to work in adverse
weather conditions and in unpleasant odour environment.

Responsibilities: Perform
labourer activities associated with providing support during refuse removal tasks, removes
domestic, commercial, industrial and garden waste. Operate compactor mechanism and
handle bulk refuse containers. Deposit refuse and litterbags into trucks, trolleys and drums
Clean illegal dumping and spillages, Wash the refuse truck daily prior to the collection of
refuse.

Control traffic when necessary during loading procedure. Assist the driver with
directions while reversing to lift the bulk containers Assist with refuse related work when trucks
are being serviced and perform any other general duties the immediate superior may assign
to the incumbent. Clean the tools and materials after usage. Load and offload tools and
materials

GENERAL WORKERS: ROADS & STORM WATER (X 06 Posts across all units)
(PL 14) R117 282.00 PA

Requirements: Grade 10. Ability to read and write. Good interpersonal skills, ability to work
as an individual and part of a team. Ability to read and write. Physically fit to perform manual
duties as required. Ability to cooperate with the general public and work as part of an effective
team. Ability to speak two of the main languages spoken in the area. Ability to work in adverse
weather conditions and in unpleasant odour environment.

Responsibilities: Dig sweep in
the application of various asphalt products, Clean storm water channels, push wheel barrows
and related tasks. Gravel road batch work and tar road maintenance. Filling of road shoulders
hat are damaged. Cleaning of side drains to main pipe. Cleaning trenches, storm water pipes
and removal of mud, branches and refuse material. Assist in the laying of storm water pipes.
Mix concrete and pour in shuttering. Compact soil and materials. Dig trenches. Do brick paving
on sidewalks. Handle flags, stop/go signs and boards where necessary for traffic control.
Clean equipment and vehicles of the unit.

Requirements: Grade 10. Ability to read and write. Good interpersonal skills, ability to work
as an individual and part of a team. Ability to read and write. Physically fit to perform manual
duties as required. Ability to cooperate with the public and work as part of an effective team.

Responsibilities: Undertake
general labouring tasks associated with providing support during installation, repair and
maintenance of water reticulation systems by using hand held tools to excavate defined areas,
laying of pipes and lines, cleaning or clearing of overgrown vegetation interfering with water
and waste water systems. Assist with the laying of pipes and installation of meters, perform

maintenance tasks on sewer systems, pump stations, workshop areas, stores equipment and
tools. Pumping of sludge. Cleaning of pump stations, using of different tools as required for
the tasks. Sanctioning of septic tanks, VIP toilets and any other related duties to water service.
Clean worksites, designated municipal vehicles and load materials prior departure to and from
work site

GENERAL WORKERS: WATER (X12 Posts across all units) (PL 14) R117 282.00 PA

as an individual and part of a team. Ability to read and write. Physically fit to perform manual
duties as required. Ability to cooperate with the public and work as part of an effective team.

GENERAL WORKERS: CEMETERIES (X24 Posts across all units) (PL 14) R117 282.00

duties as required. Ability to cooperate with the public and work as part of an effective team.
